Unencumbered by fine detail, these chess pieces will stand up to the rigor of everyday play and it's the perfect set for blitz. This is a small set with a king - perfect for the casual chess game at home. The pieces are nicely weighted and have thick green baize pads for a soft landing on the chess board. The golden rosewood and boxwood are hand polished to a beautiful luster. We include 2 extra queens for pawn promotion.Our Deluxe Walnut and Maple Chess Board is made for us by the craftsmen of Rechapados Ferrer in Spain, the leading chess board manufacturer in the world. The rich brown color of the walnut and maple is perfect for matching with the golden rosewood and cream-colored boxwood pieces. This is an inlaid chess board made from the finest walnut and maple veneer and sealed with a semi-gloss polyurethane finish to protect the wood. The precision of the inlay work is remarkable. The chess board has 1.5" squares accentuated by a triple inlay border to separate the playing squares from the frame. The overall size of the board is 17.75" and is .5" thick.
