This package includes our Queen's Gambit Series chess set with golden rosewood and boxwood pieces matched with our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board and Classic Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Box. Inspired by the hit Netflix series, The Queen's Gambit, these are the exact same pieces Beth and the young Russian protégé, Georgi Girev, played with in their match in Mexico City, and nearly lost. The pieces are made from golden rosewood and boxwood with a traditional polished lacquer finish. The king is tall with a base diameter of 1.45". The pieces are heavily weighted for exceptional stability and have green billiard cloth pads for a soft feel on the chess board. We include two extra queens for pawn promotion and a certificate of manufacture so that you will always know where the chess set came from and what it is.Our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board offers a luxurious back drop for these special chess pieces. Handcrafted from premium veneer, this chess board highlights the deep, rich hues of the walnut burl contrasted with the golden tones of the bird's-eye maple. The squares are surrounded with a wide black delimiter and a black border on the outside accentuates the bird's-eye maple frame. A semi-gloss polyurethane finish both protects and enhances the color of the wood. The squares are 2" with an overall footprint of 19.5".Our Bird's-Eye Maple Classic Chess Box is wonderfully constructed and reminiscent of the old heirloom quality chess boxes from years ago. The box is covered in beautiful bird's-eye maple veneer that perfectly matches the chess board squares and frame with a lustrous semi-gloss polyurethane finish. The interior is lined with a thick emerald-green baize just like we use for the pads on our chess pieces. The box has a divider in the center for conveniently storing the black and white pieces separately. We use high quality brass plated quadrant hinges that neatly recess into the wall of the box and a brass plated lock and key for securing the lid when closed.
