This is the same chess set used by the legendary American Grandmaster Bobby Fischer when he beat reigning world champion and Grandmaster Boris Spassky in the 1972 World Chess Championship in Reykjavik, Iceland. These are golden rosewood and boxwood pieces with a traditional polished lacquer finish and are heavily weighted for superior balance and stability on the chess board. The king is tall and has a base diameter of 1.25", the perfect size for tournament chess games.
