The pieces are cast in solid polystone, an extremely hard, stone-like material, and are hand painted in realistic colors by highly skilled artisans with amazing detail.Our Gray and Erable High Gloss Deluxe Chess Board is made for us by Rechapados Ferrer in Spain, the largest manufacturer of high-quality chess boards in the world. This is an inlaid chess board made from gray stained ash burl and erable veneer sealed with a high gloss polyurethane finish to protect and enhance the beauty of the wood.
