The J deck or Legend Section #J was the location of numerous F-14 Tomcats flown by VF-111 "Sundowners" during the Pacific Quest of 1989. One of the most notable aircraft that flew from this section was the F-14A BuNo. 161621 which belonged to the "Sundowners" and was flown in several missions during the deployment.During the Pacific Quest of 1989 the USS Enterprise was part of the naval task force that responded to the crisis in the Persian Gulf following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The carrier along with its air wing played a crucial role in the initial stages of Operation Desert Shield.
