Produced by the British during the war the Churchill tank was known for its heavy armor and strong defensive capabilities. In 1943 the 6th Guards Armoured Brigade was stationed in England preparing for the Allied invasion of Normandy.The Churchill Mk III ESK part of the Squadron HQ would have been instrumental in training and logistical operations in England in anticipation of the upcoming conflict. While it may not have seen direct combat during this time its importance lay in its role as a command tank coordinating the movements and actions of the armored units under its command.As the Allies prepared for the invasion of Normandy in 1944 the Churchill Mk III ESK tanks played a significant part in the armored divisions that landed on the beaches of Normandy and participated in the subsequent battles across Western Europe.
