VA-25 was part of Carrier Air Wing 15 (CVW-15) and was deployed to the waters off Vietnam during the Vietnam War. The A-1H Skyraider a rugged and versatile single-seat attack aircraft had been a mainstay of US Navy and Marine Corps aviation since the Korean War known for its ability to carry a wide array of ordnance and endure punishing combat conditions.During its final combat mission the A-1H Skyraider operated in the demanding and hazardous environment of Vietnam providing close air support to ground forces conducting armed reconnaissance and attacking enemy targets. VA-25 flew numerous sorties delivering ordinance on enemy positions supply routes and infrastructure in support of US and allied ground operations.
