The Champ Combo brings full size championship pieces (3 3/4") to a more compact playing surface (17 3/4") and includes a specialized bag to store or transport both the wooden board and the pieces - all as one convenient kit! The pieces are traditional European pattern chessmen used at major events in the last decades, including World Championships, FIDE Olympiads, and many others. You can now own the chessmen used by champions. The pieces are extra weighted for a superb play experience and are beautifully finished with billiard felt base. The robust design has no delicate points to break. The wooden pieces are crafted from boxwood (light) and ebonized boxwood (dark) by some of India's finest and most experienced craftsmen. At less than just under 18" square, this chessboard is more compact than typical 19" to 21" boards. Yet it still has a full 2" square size. This means it will fit more tables and you have more options in where to play chess. Or if a young player is new to the game, the pieces can be more easily reached. The board is finished with high quality veneers and a special finish to enhance and protect the wood, giving the chess board a smooth matte finish and preventing glare. The board is manufactured in Spain with the same techniques used for quality furniture. The convenient (18") padded bag holds it all together.
