Our French Lardy Staunton is based on the original chess set made by the Lardy Chess Company in France from many years ago. There's nothing fancy about this chess set but it has a masculine handsomeness and a traditional Staunton look that serious chess players prefer for their everyday chess set. This is the perfect tournament chess set with a king. Pieces have green billiard cloth pads for a soft feel when moving and are properly weighted for stability on the chess board. The Acacia and boxwood are hand polished to a beautiful sheen. The French Lardy is truly a classic and an exceptional chess set for the casual game at home or tournament play.Our Walnut Burl and Bird's-Eye Maple Chess Board offers a luxurious back drop for these special chess pieces. Handcrafted from premium veneer, this chess board highlights the deep, rich hues of the walnut burl contrasted with the golden tones of the bird's-eye maple. The squares are surrounded with a wide black delimiter and a black border on the outside accentuates the bird's-eye maple frame. A semi-gloss polyurethane finish both protects and enhances the color of the wood. The squares are 2" with an overall footprint of 19.5".
